Technological Infrastructure

One of our key commitments is to make available and to enhance Hong Kong's technological infrastructure to facilitate development of innovation and technology activities. We work closely with the public institutions involved in innovation and technology to achieve this purpose.

To this end, we are working closely with

  • the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation offers one-stop infrastructural support to technology-based companies and activities. This statutory Corporation is formed by merging the former Hong Kong Industrial Estates Corporation, the Hong Kong Industrial Technology Centre Corporation and the Provisional Hong Kong Science Park Company Ltd. It has commenced operation with effect from 7 May 2001. It provides a comprehensive range of services to cater the needs of industry at various stages, ranging from nurturing technology start-ups through the incubation programme, providing premises and services in the Science Park for applied research and development activities, creating and sustaining a design cluster in the InnoCentre, to offering land and premises in the industrial estates for production
  • the Hong Kong Productivity Council in promoting productivity excellence through the provision of integrated support across the value chain of Hong Kong firms, in order to achieve more effective utilisation of resources, enhance the value-added content of products and services, and enhance the industry's international competitiveness.
  • the Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute Company Limited conducts research and development for transfer to industry for commercialisation with a view to upgrading the technological level of our industry and creating new technology-based industries.
  • the Hong Kong Jockey Club Institute of Chinese Medicine Limited (HKJCICM), which is a subsidiary of the Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute Company Limited, promotes and supports the modernization and further development of Chinese medicine in Hong Kong.
  • the Hong Kong Design Centre Limited, which is a multi-disciplinary design centre, aims to promote design as a value-added activity; raise design standards and foster design-related education; and raise the profile of Hong Kong as an innovative and creative hub.
