Standards Services
The Product Standards Information Bureau (PSIB) provides a comprehensive range of standards-related services to promote general awareness of standards and in particular to local enterprises, provide them with the latest information on local and overseas standards and technical regulations, and assist them to comply with these requirements in their manufacturing, exports and provision of services and to enhance quality and competitiveness.

The PSIB provides the following services :
Product Standards Library
The Product Standards Library maintains a comprehensive collection of documents and publications on standards. It has some 120 000 international and national standards, technical regulations and product safety requirements implemented in Hong Kong and our major trading partners. Standards catalogues, handbooks, and related publications are also available. Members of the public are welcome to visit our Library to read the standards documents and publications at the reading area of the Library. Interested parties may also access the websites of the standards bodies with the computer facilities at the Library.
The collection includes latest standards published by the following bodies :
- International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO)
- British Standards Institution (BSI) ¡V British standards and European standards
- Deutsches Institut für Normung (DIN)
- Standardisation Administration of China (SAC) - Chinese GB (Guojia Biaozhun)
- Standards Australia (SA)
It also contains periodicals on standards, including the following :
- ISO Focus
- ISO Management Systems
- China Standardisation (China Association for Standardisation)
- Update Standards (BSI)
- SAI Global
- Standards Update (Standards New Zealand)
Standards Sales Service
Members of the public may purchase original copies of standards, guides, publications or handbooks issued by different standards bodies through the PSIB. Four major standards bodies have given us the authority to produce photocopies of their standards for sale locally. They are the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO), the British Standards Institution (BSI), Standards Australia (SA) and Deutsches Institut für Normung (DIN). While photocopies can be ready for collection in two working days, original standards to be ordered overseas will take a longer delivery time.

Technical Enquiry / Advisory Service
The PSIB offers a free technical enquiry/ advisory service on overseas product standards, safety and certification requirements and regulations. The service aims to assist enterprises to be aware of and to have a convenient access to standards, safety and certification requirements of products and services, and as far as possible to assist them in understanding the technical content of the standards and requirements and offer suggestions on how to comply with them. Parties are welcome to obtain advice from our technical advisors in person or in writing. Please click to see a collection of technical advice/ enquiries.
