Ordinance(s)/Regulation(s) and Brief Description:

The Consumer Goods Safety Ordinance (Cap 456) imposes a duty on manufacturers, importers and suppliers of consumer goods to ensure that the consumer goods they supply are reasonably safe. Under the Ordinance, all consumer goods manufactured, imported or supplied for consumption in Hong Kong, China must satisfy the general safety requirements or any prescribed safety standards.

  • BS 7177:1996
Upholstered furniture (where flammability is concerned)
  • AS/NZ 4088.1:1996
  • Specification established in the United States California Law, California Business and Professions Code, Division 8, Chapter 3 for upholstered furniture
Pillows (where flammability is concerned)
  • ISO 12952-1 & 2: 1998
  • BS 7175:1989
