Sphygmomanometers
Blood pressure is the pressure that the blood exerts against the blood vessel walls as a result of pumping of blood into the arteries by the heart and the subsequent resistance of the arteries.
Suitable level of blood pressure is desirable and it is recommended to measure blood pressure regularly. Blood pressure is usually measured with a sphygmomanometer.
SCL has set up calibration facilities for sphygmomanometers. This new service has been accredited by HOKLAS in July 2004.
Calibration will be performed by applying known pressures to the sphygmomanometer under test, and thereby the sphygmomanometer is required to have a pressure inlet for pressure input. The details of the service are as follows :
Items, materials or products tested |
Specific tests or properties measured |
Best measurement capability expressed as measurement uncertainty or detection limits (where appropriate) |
|---|---|---|
| sphygmomanometer | Commensurate with the graduation of the sphygmomanometer | 0.5 hPa |
