International Recognition of SCLs Calibration Certificates

The calibration certificates issued by the Standards and Calibration Laboratory (SCL) with the CIPM MRA logo and/or the HKAS logo are internationally recognised. This provides confidence in the calibration results.

Calibration Certificates with CIPM MRA Logo

The CIPM MRA is an "Arrangement for Mutual Recognition of National Measurement Standards and of Calibration and Measurement Certificates Issued by National Metrology Institutes (NMIs)". It was drawn up by the International Committee for Weights and Measures (CIPM).

SCL is a signatory to the CIPM MRA. Its calibration and measurement capabilities (CMCs) in the fields of electricity, time and frequency, thermometry, length, mass and related quantities (including force) are published under Appendix C of the CIPM MRA on the website of the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM).

SCL is authorised to issue calibration certificates with the CIPM MRA logo for calibrations listed as CMCs. Such calibration certificates are internationally recognised by the signatories of the CIPM MRA which include NMIs from most trading partners of Hong Kong.

Calibration Certificates with HKAS Logo

SCL is accredited by the Hong Kong Accreditation Service (HKAS) for performing specific calibrations as listed in the HOKLAS Directory of Accredited Laboratories. It is allowed to issue HOKLAS endorsed certificates with the HKAS logo for accredited calibrations. Such certificates are internationally recognised by laboratory accreditation bodies with which HKAS has concluded mutual recognition arrangements (MRAs). Most of the laboratory accreditation bodies from trading partners of Hong Kong are included.
