A sharing session for 3D animation competition participants held on 9 May

More than 100 students, teachers and parents attended the briefing on 'Hong Kong Youth 3D Animation Competition 2008' held on 9 May (Friday) at InnoCentre, Kowloon Tong with a view to understanding more about the requirements of the competition and seeking advice from the experts.

'Can I use another software to compose the animation?' a student asked.

'Can I submit more than one entry?' another student asked. He looked a bit disappointed when he was told that each student could only submit one entry.

The parents and teachers seemed more concerned about the training arrangements and were delighted to know that there would be training classes in both Hong Kong Island and Kowloon.

A spokesman for ITC said, 'The programme is not just a competition as its key objective is to nurture the youngsters' talent in design and technology. Other than providing some basic training for all registered participants, more sophisticated training will be lined up for the winners.'

Hong Kong Youth 3D Animation Competition is jointly organised by ITC, Cyberport and Hong Kong New Generation Cultural Association Science Innovation Centre, with Autodesk® as the official software provider. The Office of the Government Chief Information Officer and Summit Technology (HK) Ltd. are supporting organisations for the programme. PC Market, Sing Tao Daily and Yellow Bus have been engaged as media partners.

Deadline for registration is 13 June. For enquiries, please call 2792 3639. Details about the competition is available at http://www.itc.gov.hk/en/news/space_games_2108.html.

The students are very attentive when the organisers explain the rules and regulations of the competition.
