ISO/IEC 17020:2026 ‘Conformity assessment - Requirements for bodies performing inspection’ was published in March 2026. At the General Assembly of International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (now known as Global Accreditation Cooperation Incorporated) in October 2025, a three-year transition period from the date of publication of the new ISO/IEC 17020 was endorsed. Accredited inspection bodies shall therefore conform to the requirements in ISO/IEC 17020:2026 by 31 March 2029. For details, please refer to the ‘Transition Schedule for ISO/IEC 17020:2026’:

The new version of ISO 14001 was published in April 2026, superseding ISO 14001:2015.

In accordance with the Global ACI TECH-3-TR 2029-04-30 (M) Transition Requirements for ISO 14001:2026 [Implementation dated: 14 September 2026], the transition of certified organisations to ISO 14001:2026 must be completed by 30 April 2029.

Following the publication of the 2026 version of ISO 14001 in April 2026, ISO published the 2026 version of ISO 9001 in September 2026. HKAS is now ready to provide accreditation service for management system certification to both International Standards.

The new version of ISO 9001 supersedes ISO 9001:2015. In accordance with the Global ACI TECH-3-TR 2029-09-30 (M) Transition Requirements for ISO 9001:2026 [Implementation dated: 16 September 2026], the transition of certified organisations to ISO 9001:2026 shall be completed by 30 September 2029.
