Visit Standards and Calibration Laboratory

Schools and organizations are welcome to make prior appointments for guided visits to the Standards and Calibration Laboratory. Participants may tour our various laboratories and gain an understanding of fundamental metrological concepts. These guided sessions enable visitors to understand measurement standards, calibration, and the importance of metrology.

Application Method

  1. Please submit the completed Application Form by fax (3543 5889) or email (scl@itc.gov.hk) at least TWO months prior to the date of visit.

Application Guidance Notes and Rules for Standards and Calibration Laboratory

  1. Applications shall be submitted at least TWO months prior to the date of visit.
  2. Each visit group shall have 10-30 participants, including staff and teachers. A minimum of 2 persons over the age of 18 shall be included in each visit group.
  3. The available visit time is 14:30 p.m. to 16:30 p.m., Mondays to Fridays, excluding public holidays.
  4. Participants shall arrange for their own transportation.
  5. Visits will be arranged on a first-come-first-served basis.
  6. Email confirmation will be given by SCL for all successful applications ONE month prior to the date of visit. Applicants should reply the email confirmation TWO weeks before the date of visit for assurance of the visit. If not, the reservation may be cancelled without further notice.
  7. The visit will be cancelled automatically if Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No.3 or above; or Amber Rainstorm Warning Signal or above is in force within 3 hours before the visit is scheduled to begin.
  8. SCL reserves the right to cancel any pre-arranged visit by giving an advance notice.
  9. A notice for cancellation is required at least one week before the date of visit if the school or organisation wants to cancel the visit booking. If the school or organisation does not show up at the allocated time of visit without any prior notice, SCL reserves the right to refuse applications from the relevant school and organisation for future lab visits.
  10. The SCL is exempted from all the liabilities of claims, costs, damages and expenses in respect of any damage, injury or loss to the participants or their properties occasioned by or in any way arising from the visit or any purpose pertaining to or associated with the visit.

Personal Data Collection Statement

  1. Purpose of Collection: The personal data provided by means of this form will only be used for processing the application of visiting Standards and Calibration Laboratory (SCL) and disseminating SCL information.
  2. The data subject has the rights to obtain a printed copy of his/her own personal data held by SCL and to ask for correction of the personal data.
