Calibration Services

Electrical: Magnetism

General

The Direct Current Laboratory of SCL can provide calibration services for DC magnetic flux density measuring equipment (e.g. Tesla meter and gauss meter) and reference magnets up to 1.5 Tesla (T) or 15,000 Gauss (G).

The calibration system comprises of an electromagnet, a Helmholtz coil, a reference Hall effect type tesla meter and a reference nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) type tesla meter.

DC magnetic flux density meters

Calibration of Gaussmeter Calibration of Gaussmeter

The Laboratory can provide calibration services for DC magnetic flux density meters in the range of ±(0.3 mT to 1.0 T) in the axial (z) direction and ±(0.3 mT to 1.5 T) in the transverse(x, y) direction by direct comparison with a Laboratory reference Hall effect type tesla meter or an NMR type tesla meter.

The calibration of a DC magnetic flux density meter normally includes the measurement of at least one test point at selected measurement range of the device under test. The number of measurement points will determine the calibration fee.

The Laboratory can provide calibration services for DC magnetic flux density of reference magnets in the range of ±(0.3 mT to 1.5 T) by direct measurement with a Laboratory's reference Hall effect type tesla meter or an NMR type tesla meter.
