The Standards and Calibration Laboratory (SCL) has set up facilities to provide calibration service for Fibre Optic Power Meter fitted with FC-type connectors. Measurements are made with single mode laser diode sources at standard wavelengths of 1310 nm and 1550 nm at a power level of 1 mW (0 dBm). Calibrations are carried out by comparison with the laboratory standard, an Electrically Calibrated Pyroelectric Radiometer (ECPR).

The Standards and Calibration Laboratory (SCL) has set up facilities to provide calibration service for Fibre Optic Laser source fitted with FC-type connectors at standard wavelengths of 1310 nm and 1550 nm. Power measurements are made with the laboratory standard, an Electrically Calibrated Pyroelectric Radiometer (ECPR), and wavelength measurements are made with the laboratory wavelength meter.

Reliable optical time domain reflectometers (OTDR) are widely used in installation and maintenance of optical communication networks to assure reliable broadband communication performance. The Standards and Calibration Laboratory (SCL) has set up facilities to provide calibration service for distance, attenuation and reflectance of single mode OTDRs at wavelengths of 1310 nm and 1550 nm in accordance with the international standards IEC 61746-1:2009 and BS EN 61746-1:2011.
