Staff of the SCL Presented a Paper on Optical Measurements at the 13th NEWRAD Conference
Ms Brenda Lam, Senior Electronics Engineer of the Standards and Calibration Laboratory (SCL) presented a paper on optical measurements at the 13th International Conference on New Developments and Applications in Optical Radiometry (NEWRAD 2017) in June 2017. The NEWRAD Conference is a prestigious conference focusing on the latest development and measurement techniques in photometry and radiometry.

The title of the presented paper is "A Single Detector Based Calibration System for Light Sources, Illuminance Meters and Luminance Meters". The paper introduces the system developed by the SCL for photometric measurement. The SCL's system uses a standard reference photodetector as the reference to simplify the setup and to enable easier transportation of the reference standard to other laboratories for comparison and proficiency testing. It covers a wide range of luminous intensity, illuminance and luminance and with small measurement uncertainties that are adequate for most measurement applications. Ms Lam also visited the National Metrology Institute of Japan (NMIJ) to exchange and discuss latest development in Quantum Electrical Standards, Photometry, Radiometry and Acoustics. The discussions shed light on the future development of the SCL.
