Automotive Parts and Accessory Systems R&D Centre (APAS), operating under the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC), held the "APAS R&D Centre Showcase 2018" on July 26. The opening ceremony was led by Dr David Chung, Acting Secretary for Innovation and Technology, and Mr Bryan Ha, Assistant Commissioner for Innovation and Technology (Funding Schemes). Under the theme of "Autonomous Technology Development", the event comprised a technical seminar and an exhibition of APAS latest research and development (R&D) results.

In his opening speech, Mr Willy Lin, Chairman of HKPC, highlighted the support of the Innovation and Technology Commission (ITC), “APAS has recently acquired its first autonomous-ready vehicle with the support of the ITC. This will serve as a R&D platform for future local development and application of autonomous technology.”

In addition to the autonomous-ready vehicle, winning projects from the 46th International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva developed by APAS, including the Portable Charger Kit, Smart Safety Seat Belt, Smart Street Lamp Monitoring System, and Tail Lift Anti-trapping System plus various EV charging solutions, were also showcased.
