The InnoTech Expo 2018 focused on three categories: industry, agriculture and medicine. The industrial section featured I&T breakthroughs and solutions in smart city and infrastructure development, such as drone logistics systems and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge. In the agricultural component, computer-assisted smart cultivation methods and bioengineered crops were displayed. While in the medical division, new inventions for diagnosis, surgery and rehabilitation were presented.

Mrs Carrie Lam, the Chief Executive and Mr Nicholas Yang, the Secretary for Innovation and Technology gave speech in the opening and closing ceremonies respectively. Both officials highlighted the government’s effort in cultivating I&T talents and facilitating commercialisation of research and development results. The Chief Executive placed special emphasis on the government’s focus on collaboration between Hong Kong and the mainland, with a vision of building the Greater Bay Area as a regional I&T hub.
