Hong Kong Pavilion showcased latest I&T achievements at the 20th China Hi-Tech Fair
The 20th China Hi-Tech Fair (CHTF) was officially held from November 14 to November 18 at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Centre. Co-organised by the Innovation and Technology Commission (ITC) and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the Hong Kong Pavilion showcased the latest technological achievements of Hong Kong enterprises and academia , provided an opportunity for business and technology exchanges with a view to exploring opportunities for further collaboration.

This year, the Hong Kong Pavilion presented exceptional innovations from five research and development (R&D) centres, namely APAS, ASTRI, HKRITA, LSCM and NAMI. For instance, HKRITA exhibited the Washable Hygienic Facemask as Barrier to Air Pollution and Fine Worsted Yak Yarns and Fabrics. The unique material used in both innovations improved the quality of garment, further to the user’s quality of life. In addition, ASTRI demonstrated the NB-IoT IP Platform and Virtual Tour Creation Tool. The NB-IoT IP Platform rephrases all the transmission elements into a single CMOS chip that can meet IoT terminal requirements for low consumption, low cost and extensive network coverage. ASTRI’s Virtual Tour Creation Tool can automatically create a virtual tour by leveraging on 360-degree panorama images, which provides an immersive experience to users.

On the exchange platform of China Hi-Tech Fair 2018, four tertiary institutions including The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, The University of Hong Kong, The Education University of Hong Kong, and Hong Kong Design Institute, showcased their own advanced innovations. To encourage the development of local enterprises and start-up businesses, three winners of Start-up Express also participated in the Hong Kong Pavilion at the exhibition.
