Celebration of World Metrology Day, World Accreditation Day and World Standards Day 2017
On June 6, The Standards and Calibration Laboratory (SCL), together with Hong Kong Accreditation Service (HKAS), the Product Standards Information Bureau (PSIB), the Hong Kong Council for Testing and Certification (HKCTC) and the Government Laboratory (GL) jointly organised a forum to celebrate the World Metrology Day, the World Accreditation Day and the World Standards Day. The forum introduced to participants various aspects and benefits of the quality infrastructure.

Ms Annie Choi, the Commissioner for Innovation and Technology and Dr Della Sin, the Government Chemist, GL, were invited for the welcoming remarks and opening remarks respectively at the event. Dr Toshiyuki Takatsuji, Chairperson, Asia Pacific Metrology Programme (APMP), Ms Chang Kwei Fern, Chairperson, Pacific Accreditation Cooperation (PAC) and Mr Adrian O'Connell, Chairperson, Pacific Area Standards Congress (PASC) were invited as the honorable speakers to share their views on the impacts of metrology, accreditation and standards in the society respectively. Other speakers, Dr Mckey Ho from the Housing Department (HD), Dr Fung Wai Hong from the GL and Mr Aaron Yan, Head of the SCL were invited to deliver the relevant topics in the forum.

The event, which served as a platform for exchanging ideas on quality infrastructure was well attended by about 200 attendees. The participants were from the testing and certification industry, users of testing and certification services, technical experts in the field, teachers, students and representatives from government departments.
