Intel International Science and Engineering Fair 2017 to be held May 14 to 19 in Los Angeles
The world’s largest international pre-college science competition, The Intel International Science and Engineering Fair 2017 (Intel ISEF), which is a program of Society for Science & the Public, will be held this year from May 14 to 19 in Los Angeles, United States.

Intel ISEF gathers top young scientific minds from around the globe, showcasing their talents on an international stage, where about 1,000 science, engineering and industry professionals review and judge their work. Each year, approximately 1,800 high school students from more than 75 countries are given the opportunity to compete for an average US$4 million in prizes. Fairs are conducted at local, regional, state and national levels. Hong Kong New Generation Cultural Association (HKNGCA) held the Hong Kong Regional Final last December and selected 6 projects from local secondary schools to participate in this premier global science competition.

The local delegates have been highly recognised over the past few years in Intel ISEF. Five Hong Kong students have had minor planets named after them since 2011 by the International Astronomical Union in recognition of their top honours in Intel ISEF. In 2014, Chan Tai Hei and Fang Er Hai from King’s College won the First Place Award with a project named "Mechanism of Chinese Silver Staining Diagnosis and Its Application as Rapid Test for Chronic Renal Failure", marking a best-ever achievement for Hong Kong students.
